Voki

It's an app to create an avatar. Its great because you can make anyone talk. It is useful to prepare presentations, practice areas of vocabulary or story telling.

Cons: only 60 seconds for each Voki.

More!

Other apps Gabi showed us, but we didn't use ourselves:

Mindmup: to create mind maps

Socrative: to create quizzes

Inigma: To make the students read QR codes. I thought I could use this to dsclose all the option for a problem-solving task. (QR Code Quest)

screencastomatic: to create tutorials

chirbit: to record voice and thetn add it to a picture, for example!

Kahoot!

I love this app. It's great to engage students because they can see how well they are doing and at the same time its demanding both in speed and knwledge.

Cons: You need a projector so that the student's can see the questions and the possible answers, otherwise they have to rely on the teacher's reading, what makes the whole activity more difficult.

Padlet

This is a good way for students to showcase their productions and everyone can see them. They can include written opinions, photos, videos or anything that they want to show.

It's perfect either pre or post group discussions or debates. Also, to show the results of their reasearch.
I can make a box for each of the or allow them to write freely.

Cons: they can move each other's "boxes"

Voice thread

This is a good tool to add video, photos and voice.
I could use the one I've made to give information to my student's in a more appealing way. Also, it can be used for speaking activities, either to set tasks or to open a discussion
But I'd definitely make them do their own productions.

Cons: you have a limited number of productions with the free edition.

Storybird

This app allows to create stories. The good thing is that it provides users with a lot of images connected to the topic they want to write about. the bad thing is that you may be constrained because you can't use your own images.

Photopeach

This is good to create stories, but in my case I'll use to create questionnaires

I'd love to use it for my students to revise vocabulary or grammar points

It can also be used as a trigger for student's productions, showing them pictures and asking them questions so that they can write their own story.

Story board That

This is a lovely tool to create stories or comic strips where you can choose the setting, the characters and add any object you want.

Made with Storyboard That

It is a good idea to make students create story-strips with new vocavulary
